Best beauty ipod/iPhone app: My Beauty Bible

If you haven't discovered the My Beauty Bible app on your iPod or iPhone, you've gotta get it!

There's a free version with limited features that I tested first. I loved it enough that I bought it. The app focuses on hair, makeup, and nails.

For each category it has:

Text tips (example: how to apply concealer)
How to videos (example: how to create a purple smokey eye)
Photos (example: a French braid)

The videos are all uploaded on YouTube and they take the viewer step by step to recreating a specific makeup look, hair style, or nail art.

Yay, summer!

Happy summer, everyone!

Though the blog has been quiet, Violet and I have been busy behind the scenes working on new content, ideas, and current projects for you all. We're both so grateful that you've stuck with us while we've grown, worked, and continue to deal with health related issues.

We miss you and want to hear what everyone's up to. :) What are your summer plans? Going on a vacay or having a stay-cation? Violet and I will be staying in Brooklyn--inside!--to avoid the gross, waaay too hot NYC weather. We've got a DVR full of awesome TV ready to play in the background while we work on V&R projects.

Speaking of DVR . . . what're you watching on TV?

We may be down . . .

but we're not out!

As you've probably noticed, the blog has been quiet for a while and the release of our first e-book has been put on hold. Keeping this post business-y :), Kate and I are slowly starting to learn to manage obstacles that have slowed production of Violet & Ruby.

We're (slowly!) gearing up to get back to work on several exciting projects--Wellington Prep, Pinky Swear, and many others.

Stick around and look for more updates as we move forward with this exciting venture!

Kate and I wanted to say THANK YOU (that's an understatement) to all of you who have stuck by us during her illness. You've been patiently waiting for DOMINATE and sending e-mails and Tweets to check on the estimated release date. As of now, there is not one. The book is a co-creation and until Kate is well, I will not be writing a word of our collaborative idea without her.

We talk often of the projects we will produce for Violet & Ruby and wish we could start publishing them now. But Kate's health comes first and once she is well, we'll have SO much awesome material for you!

Our current fave summer scent

Ruby and I have a fab new summer scent to recommend to you! Check out Victoria Secret's Beauty Rush Line. Our current fave is Sweet Tease: Whipped Cream and Sparkling Berries. It's light, fruity and has a nice hint of vanilla. We heart it!
